Album update! Squeeee!

So, you haven't heard from me. So, I've been spending my weekends and evenings in the Black Hat Studio with the amazing Josh Cohen (It's his birthday today! Wee!). So, you may wonder what's going on, so let's stick with the cold, hard facts about this album, shall we?
  • The name of the album is Storybook.
  • "Storybook" is also the name of the song where I do a kinda white-girl-from-Minnesota spoken word section. Tis much fun. Don't laugh. Okay, do laugh.
  • Josh and I have been working hard on putting this together. We get quite silly. The heat comes on a lot because it's winter and freaking cold and the studio must get heat or our fingers can't play the musics, so we have to wait because it's kinda loud. We have fun conversations while we wait, or I brew another cup of tea. We dance. We amuse ourselves. But Josh's cry of anguish kind of sums it up for me, too: "Winter, why must you wint?!?!"
  • True... why must you wint, winter?

Moving on.
  • We only have a few more parts to record and 1 (or possibly 2) more songs before we wrap up the recording sessions. Then it goes to mixing and mastering. Uff dah! So, we're almost done with Part 1 of the process. Yippee! Josh has exciting stuff going on after February (he'll be hanging with Guster and Childish Gambino, no biggie), so we've been moving fast!
  • I should say that Josh makes all of this super easy for me. He is fabulous, and a pleasure to work with. And working with him in the Black Hat Studio is a dream come true for me. Check out the Black Hat Studio on facebook, and on their website:

  • While we're busy finishing this up, I'm playing some shows! Tonight I'll be joining Steph Barrak (and doing a few songs of my own) at Blue State Coffee near Boston University for a nice songwriters night hosted by The Brain Trust. February 4th, Steph and I will be playing our own sets in Portland, ME for our first road trip out of state together. And then a SUPER exciting show on Valentine's Day at O'Brien's in Allston, MA. Here's the poster for Valentine's:

Oh, and I can't forget:

Stay tuned, but know that YOU are making this possible and I think you guys are gonna love it. I love you with all of my heart. :)
